How to Use Roulety
Roulety is designed to be intuitive and easy to use. Follow this step-by-step guide to create your own custom spinner wheel and start making random selections in seconds.
Step 1: Add Your Entries
When you first open Roulety, you will see the spinner wheel on the left and an entry panel on the right. The entry panel is where you add the options you want the wheel to choose from.
- Type the name of an option in the input field and press Enter or click the Add button.
- Repeat this process for each option you want to include on the wheel.
- You need at least two entries to spin the wheel.
- There is no hard limit on the number of entries, but 2 to 20 entries work best visually.
Step 2: Customize (Optional)
Roulety offers several customization options to make the wheel your own:
- Colors — Each entry is automatically assigned a distinct color. You can change individual colors by clicking on the color swatch next to each entry.
- Templates — Switch to the Templates tab to choose from pre-built wheel configurations like Yes/No decisions, number pickers, or lunch spot selectors.
- Settings — In the Settings tab, you can adjust spin duration, sound effects, confetti animations, and appearance preferences.
Step 3: Spin the Wheel
Once your entries are set, spinning is simple:
- Click the wheel — Click or tap anywhere on the wheel to start a spin.
- Press Spacebar — On desktop, you can press the Space key as a quick shortcut.
- The wheel will spin with a smooth, realistic animation and gradually slow down before landing on a random result.
- A winner announcement modal will appear showing the selected entry, complete with optional confetti and sound effects.
Step 4: View Your History
Every spin result is automatically recorded. Switch to the History tab to see a complete log of all your past spins, including the winning entry and the time of each spin. This is useful for tracking results over multiple rounds, verifying fairness, or reviewing past decisions.
Step 5: Use the Tools
The Tools tab provides additional utilities to enhance your experience:
- Shuffle Entries — Randomize the order of entries on the wheel.
- Remove Winner — Automatically remove the winning entry after each spin, useful for elimination rounds.
- Reset Wheel — Clear all entries and start fresh.
Tips for Best Results
- Keep entry names short (1 to 3 words) for the best readability on the wheel.
- Use the fullscreen button in the header for presentations or screen sharing.
- For team or classroom use, prepare your wheel in advance by adding all entries before the session.
- All data is stored locally in your browser. Clearing your browser data will reset your entries and history.
